The Great Pumpkin Experiment
Let’s celebrate our favorite fall decoration with a little fun and creative energy. There are three categories – Edible creations, Art and craft, and “Surprise us”. Entries should be turned in at the school lunchroom between 8:00 and 9:30 Saturday morning Oct. 18 for judging. Your name and phone number should be with your entry.
Edible creations – This could be the traditional pumpkin pie or can be some other delectable like a soup or a cookie. Bring your entry in a disposable container with a recipe. The prize for best adult entry is $20 and best entry for someone under the age of 16 will be $20.
Art and craft – What can you make with a pumpkin or with the pumpkin as a subject? Children can enter a decorated pumpkin. The best entry will earn $20. Adults must use pumpkins as the subject of their art work – a painting, a photo, a sculpture, ceramic piece, or whatever. Let your imagination go. There is also a $20 prize for the adult category.
Surprise Us – Can you come up with a unique use for pumpkins that does not qualify as an edible or an artwork? Choose this category and amaze and dazzle us with a new way to look at a common object. A $20 prize for this category too.
